8-27-2021

Even though it seems like a lifetime ago, I want to thank Jen S for setting up the food for our August 23rd institute day.  What a feast!  Also thanks to Dr. Woell for his inspiring message and for being able to work through the presentations before lunch which provided some much needed extra afternoon time.

Thanks again to all staff for a wonderful first week of the school year.  I am especially appreciative to staff for stepping up when problems occurred, not panicking and working through issues to help kids!

A big thanks to Jen V and Joe H for being so flexible with the first few days of PE and allowing for student pictures and  Student Council's fundraiser.  This has really helped our school function more smoothly and I appreciate it.

I am loving the bulletin board Lynette has made in the 6th grade hallway to inspire her artists!  Check it out if you have time.

Thanks to Kim and Ellen for acting and reacting so quickly to serve the needs of students, parents and staff.  The beginning of the year is fast paced and very hectic and they are working together to get things done.

Big props to Jen H for moving into action to help our quarantine student and collaborating with the grade level team.

It may be a little long but please take a look at this article on improving middle schools.

Vanessa L has also been using her super powers to move swiftly through tech issues and new student computer set-ups.

Choir and other clubs are beginning.  Thanks to the sponsors for taking time to work with students on these wonderful activities.  I am still in need of one more lunch supervisor for 5th grade, a maker-space club supervisor and two NJHS supervisors.  Let me know if you are interested in making some $$$ and helping students engage in these extra-curricular activities.

Thanks to Michelle F and Kathy for getting the scholastic book fair ready for Curriculum Night.  I am glad you guys were working behind the scenes to get this ready so quickly.

Google like a pro!

Speaking of Curriculum Night, it is this Wednesday from 6:30-8pm.  Remember this is a great opportunity to meet parents and talk about your CURRICULUM!!! Classes will be 8 minutes long.

Thanks to all my morning and afternoon lot workers.  You have made the transition to and from school seamless for students and parents.  Special thanks to everyone helping to get bus seating charts completed after school on Thursday.

Thanks to Bill, Matt, Joe, Kerry and Dan for kicking off the fall sports season.  I am looking forward to seeing the games/meets starting next week.  We will also need supervisors.  I'm sure Dan has/will be sending out a sign-up genius so please sign up.  The kids love seeing staff at their events and you can make some extra cash.

Thanks to Melissa for presenting at the staff meeting and for setting up the safety drill schedule.  Please make sure you review it before next week.

Please pass out Fish Slips to deserving students to reinforce the positive behaviors you are seeing.  Thanks to the specials team who will be presenting a full Fish training to our 5th graders.

Morgan has been doing a great job of getting students and parents prepped for the start of Band this year.  She is recruiting both 5th and 6th grade students this year and I appreciate staffs efforts to be accomodating to her beginning of the year efforts.

PTA and Foundation are hosting a back to school event on Friday Night.  Check out the flyer below...all are welcome for a good time.

I will have evaluation cycle information to you on Monday.

I know I have been drawing my Zorro Circles, getting things accomplished and ignoring things beyond my control.  Hopefully you are able to put Zorro Circles to use this year to help increase your happiness, achievement and confidence.
